Once the snow settled down, the four of us girls set out to a local Paint-your-own-pottery place. We had a ton of fun, and the girls can't wait to go back. I painted the above colorful flower pot. It turned out really fun!
Grandma and Lauren spent quite a long time creating their own masterpieces, and the finished products really are impressive. Grandma painted an egg. She sort of stipple-painted various colors all over it. She was worried that it would not turn out nice, but it really did! Lots of different layers of color over color showing different shades and everything. Almost marbleized or granite looking.
Lauren spent about three hours, really, meticulously painting a fairy box. She chose some wonderful springy colors and set to work carefully painting all the detail. It turned out great; you can tell she worked on all the little details very carefully. 
Annika chose a monkey. He is soooo cute! But, being more simple to paint, she finished her piece rather quickly. Then she added details, and details, and more details. He started out brown with a banana in his hands. then she drew a banana on his back. Then added black as a rotten spot on the banana. Then she drew a tail. Then she added yellow spots all over the monkey because he was a messy eater. Then we decided she was done and removed the item. But, he really is cute, and she loves him. Even better.
It was a very fun afternoon. I have to mail out Grandma's egg to her. I think she should treasure it, not only for its beauty, (which it is) but also for the memories we shared of a fun time with us in Michigan. We will defiantly have to do this again!
