Staying Home In the Snow

Well, our snow stayed with us for a few days, so we had fun staying warm inside. Lauren and Grandma decided to play a game of checkers. A while ago Bill brought home a huge rug version of checkers, the kind you see at Cracker Barrel. The girls love playing it, so Lauren and Grandma engaged in a good game of Checkers.

Lauren actually kicked Grandma's butt! Not sure if she let her or if Lauren actually won on her own, but look at Grandma's face here when she realized that Lauren had a big multiple jump. And, later I noticed that Lauren had a 5-man jump with one of her Kings. Yup, Grandma was slaughtered in this game.

Meanwhile, Annika was reenacting the Lion King play. She has a small pride of small toy lions (among other animals!) that she was using to reenact the play. She used an old toy drum as Pride Rock, and assigned roles to various lion toys. Her reenactment was complete with songs, lines, and everything.

Later, when Bill came home from work, we all decorated eggs for Easter. (We celebrated Easter Thursday with Grandma.)

We have a tradition/competition in our family of creating very creative eggs. Yes, we have competitive kids (of all ages) in our household. Everyone gets into it ... except me the picture taker. Someone has to document all this fun!

Lauren is usually the more serious, and controlled decorator. She has a plan and moves forth methodically.

Annika is usually more "organic;" she just lets the moment decide what is going to be done next. Which results in pink fingers and such. Although this year she had somewhat of a vision and plan. She must be growing up.

Bill loves to create a masterpiece or two. He multi-dips and tries to create a piece of art. He usually succeeds too.

All in all it was a fun day. Eggs, dye, checkers, and lions. Oh My!
